Azaleas are among the most popular flowering shrubs in the United States, particularly in the South. They belong to the genus Rhododendron and consist of several varieties (cultivars). These varieties can be categorized as either evergreen or deciduous, as well as spring-blooming or reblooming. Most homeowners prefer evergreen azaleas.

Different azalea varieties thrive in specific regions of the country, and some are better suited to certain areas than others. At Adams Nursery, we offer azalea varieties that are well adapted to the temperatures and soil types of Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri.

Repeat Blooming Azaleas - The Encore Series

Love Azaleas but would like them to bloom longer. Encore Azaleas, with their repeat blooming, can give you everything you wish for in an Azalea.

With rich, colorful blooms that bloom in the spring, summer, and fall, your garden will have great color through several seasons.

This azalea allows for a wide diversity of planting options. Cold hardy through zone 6, this flowering shrub can tolerate full sun or high filtered shade.

Color selection runs the full gamut. Encore Azeales come in the following colors: red, white, pink, purple, lavender, coral, and orange.

Developed to resist lace bugs, these azaleas are eco-friendly.

Other Types Of Azaleas

Just like Encores, other types of Azaleas belong to the Rhododendron genus. They come in a varity of colors, sizes and hardiness.

You will want to pay attention to the hardiness zone of the azalea you choose. Some azalea are strictly for the southern regions of the United States.

Azaleas can be evergreen or deciduous.

Evergreen azaleas come in a range of colors: red, pink, white, and purple, but not yellow.

Decidious azaleas come in yellow and pink.

In Northeast Arkansas and the Bootheel of Missouri (and depending on the variety), azaleas bloom in April, May and June. The blooming cycle lasts 4 to 6 weeks from the beginning of blooming.
